Get Organized!

From the minute you start your job search, the need for organization becomes very, very evident. You need to recall hundreds of facts, remember names from long ago and need to learn about prospective companies. What do you put on your resume? What will each company need to know? The list is endless.

ChecklistComplete.com members have the Personal Inventory Forms to help get organized. The Personal Inventory prints up into a nice booklet summarizing not only your entire career, but your goals and the skills/experience you need to achieve them. It is a great tool for thinking through and gathering all the information you will need to write your résumé, fill out job applications and develop efffective answers to common interview questions. All the forms can be filled out on line and printed or just printed and filled out by hand. Our forms include:

  • Personal Data and Documents
  • Airman Certificates and Flight Time
  • Company Application Record
  • Career Goals
  • Strengths and Weaknesses
  • Additional Skills and Languages
  • Flight Training Record
  • Checkride Record
  • Military Commissioning and Schools
  • Education Record
  • Awards, Honors and Activities
  • Ten-Year Residence History
  • Employment Record
  • Personal Reference Inventory

In addition, you should perform your own background check so you know what is available in the public record. Most people are familiar with checking their credit - but did you know that the FAA, FBI and every state you have lived not only has records on you, but they may be in error?

Part of getting organized is assembling all your certificates and other documents related to aviation and US security. Most new employers require you to show your Social Security card and all require your certificates and every logbook you have had since the beginning. Airlines who accept them need to see official FAA ATP and/or FEx written exam results. Those that fly overseas require the Restricted Radio Telephone Operator's permit. You'll need your driver's license and US Passport. The list is quite extensive.

Good organization will go a long way with helping you accomplish needed documents and tasks in a professional and timely manner. The time to get started with this is now!
